Chaired by Torin Douglas.


Panel 2: 11.45am-12.15pm. The Golden Age of Children’s Television (and its promotion of books and reading)

Panellists: Vicky Ireland (Action for Children’s Arts), Alison Cole (Cultural Policy Unit), Greg Childs (The Children’s Media Foundation), Jenny Griffiths (Chiswick Book FestivalPrimary School Librarian of the Year). Chaired by Torin Douglas. 
What more can be done to promote books and reading among the young in the digital age? Are libraries the answer?

Talks by children’s authors and illustrators followed by craft sessions in two age groups.

3.30 to 5pm. Creative activities in Crafts Corridor:
Craft sessions in two age groups: Creating Puffin bookmarks, pencil-holders and Puffin or Mothering Sunday pop-up cards.

Panellists: Vicky Ireland (formerly Polka Theatre), David Wood (writer, director and producer, “The National Children’s Dramatist” – The Times). Chaired by Janet Ellis. Panel 4: 2.30pm-3.30pm
In the National Year of Reading, join two titans of the children’s theatre world: writer/director David Wood, who will be recognised at the Olivier Awards for his contribution to children’s theatre, adapting works by Roald Dahl, Floella Benjamin and more; and Vicky Ireland, former artistic director of the Polka Theatre, who has adapted works by Jacqueline Wilson Allan Ahlberg and more. Hosted by broadcaster Janet Ellis (Blue PeterTwice Upon A Time podcast).
