Poet and broadcaster Roger McGough will present the prizes for the Chiswick Book Festival Young People’s Poetry Competition. Now in its 8th year, the competition attracts entries from many local schools and is supported by ChiswickW4.com.

Charles Spencer 6-7pm: Charles Spencer: To Catch a King
Following his best-selling book about Charles I, Charles Spencer discusses the true story of one of the greatest escapes in British history – that of Charles II after his defeat at the battle of Worcester. He fled with a vast price on his head, from people who wanted him, and all traces of the monarchy, dead. Supported by Hubbard Pegman & Whitney.

Roger McGough is a poet, broadcaster, children’s author, musician, playwright and national treasure. He presents the BBC Radio 4 programme Poetry Please and has published more than 30 volumes of verse. He talks to fellow poet and musician Cahal Dallat, introduced by former Poetry Society chair Anne-Marie Fyfe.
